(Europe)
I currently am in Europe, but already have a pre-paid sim card from China HK-Telecom (works both in China and Hong Kong). This sim is valid for max 360 days after last big recharge and is still valid till march 2011.
I now have a iPhone 4 (bought in Europe) and want to use it both in China (and 3 days in Hong Kong). I want to be able to call/receive calls and also use fast internet on the phone (3G) for surfing the web etc. I am in China for 3 weeks starting from end of January.
Should I order the new China 3G WO pre-paid card? Or can I keep using the China-HKT card also for 3G?
How long is the China WO 3G card valid if I keep topping up the credit? How much RMB does it need each month to keep it working? And where on-line can I top up using eg. Credit card or Paypal?
If I need a China WO 3G card, will I get it on time by airmail before the 26th of January 2011 here in Netherlands (Europe)? Thank you!
Answer:
The pre-paid sim card from China HK-Telecom has no data feature. If you need data service (3G), you need to order the new China 3G WO pre-paid card.
The China WO 3G card can be always valid if you keep topping up the credit.
RMB165.00 recharge (USD25.00) each month can keep it working with a plan including 300MB data, 50 minutes domestic calls and free incoming calls feature when you are in mainland China. You can top up online by Visa or Paypal at China Mobile China Unicom Recharge.
The card does not work in Hong Kong.

International mail may delay sometimes. I may suggest to have the SIM card delivered to your hotel upon your arriving. A China phone number and user guide can be emailed to you in advance.
