(Australia)
Since arriving in China and using both my Australian SIM card and a one with China Mobile, I have been unable to send MMS / picture text messages from my phone.
Does anyone know how I can fix this? Do I need to activate something or change providers?
Answer:
According to Shanghai China Mobile, prepaid SIM card is able to send MMS to overseas mobiles. Cost is RMB1.50 per MMS. Just as send regular text message: 00, a country code, a city code and a phone number.
Some China Unicom 3G SIM card (prepaid) is able to send MMS to overseas mobiles. Cost is RMB0.90 per MMS, 100KB only. Just as send regular text message: 00, a country code, a city code and a phone number.
China Unicom 2G SIM card (prepaid, major brand Ru Yi Tong) can not send MMS to overseas mobiles.
Please contact carrier to confirm if your prepaid SIM card can send MMS / Picture text in China to overseas mobiles. Not all prepaid SIM cards can do this. It depends which carrier and what city issued the SIM card.
