'Pro' Xiaomi still has excellent headphones with the first Mi Airdots Pro. The sound is great and Active Noise Canceling is also a very nice bonus. Bluetooth headphones are conquering the market and rightly so: wireless is simply more comfortable and with USB-C and the elimination of the 3.5mm jack on the smartphone, the alternatives to headphones have become more limited.
With the True Wireless headphones you go one step further and make the wireless headphones even more free - no more hangers or cables between the ears. The list of the best headphones has already shown that there are alternatives to the big manufacturers and expensive models. The functional principle is the same and depending on what you value - design, AptX, battery life, color, wearing variant and intended use - there are different models.
Basically, the small, independent earplugs work like normal wireless headphones: a rechargeable battery provides the necessary energy, the connection to the smartphone is established via Bluetooth, and each earbud has drivers that generate the sound. Now the TWS In-Ears also come with a charging case, which is used on the one hand to recharge the battery of the two In-Ears and on the other to safely transport the small ear plugs. Our True Wireless headphones can also be used completely without the charging station. If you take the In Ears out of the charging case, a connection with the smartphone is automatically established.
Thanks to the Bluetooth connection, the True Wireless headphones are compatible with Android smartphones, but also iOS devices or Windows PCs. A special feature that some models offer is aptX: The two earphones also establish a connection between themselves, so that one earphone can also be used alone. Like other Bluetooth headphones, the TWS earphones have buttons for operating the smartphone and media control directly on the housing.
So you only have a running time of 2 to 4 hours with the earphones, whereby you get 2 to 4 charging cycles on top with the charging case that you normally have with you. The battery life is on par with normal Bluetooth headphones. In between you sometimes have to recharge, but depending on usage, you get a good three days runtime.
There are a large number of models on the market that, depending on the price range, also offer special features or are particularly suitable for one purpose. Depending on how much you want to spend, you get a better overall concept and usually a higher quality sound in the higher price regions. But here, too, we have already discovered some true wireless headphones in the test that could stand out with their sound for little money.
A not insignificant factor is the design and wearing variant and how the in-ears hold in the ears. There are models here that are particularly light and can only be held in the ears via the earplugs. Other variants use a small hook that clamps in the auricle and thus guarantees the fit. Especially for sports there are also particularly elaborately designed TWS InEars, which have a bracket that is placed behind the ear. All True Wireless headphones come with a microphone for making calls, which is sufficient for occasional calls.
If the wireless earphones are also to serve as a headset for regular phone calls, it is advisable to choose a model that performed particularly well in the test in terms of voice transmission and call quality.
